Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman

Something in the WaterSaying “there’s something in the water” typically induces panic. One expects to find a great white shark, giant squid or Loch Ness monster. But, what if that something was the answer to all of your problems?

Mark and Erin are on their honeymoon in beautiful Bora Bora and come upon something truly life changing, but to what lengths will they go to keep it secret? What mistakes are made?

I refuse to give away anything in what is my favorite thriller of 2018. Just know, I was gripped from the start as you could feel the tension rising even as characters seemed determined to repress their emotions. Something was brewing; a storm was coming.

The story is told from Erin’s perspective, and she is the perfect character – smart and personable but also flawed and deeply out of her element. Her emotions and reactions felt so natural that I forgot I was reading a book. It felt like the story was unfolding right before my eyes.

At its core, Something in the Water is about relationships. We see the strain that riches, loss and secrets can put on a couple.

I am so happy this novel came out right at the beginning of summer because it is the perfect beach read.

Verdict: 4.5/5 Stars
Length: 352 pages
When: Now. The perfect beach read to kick off your summer!
Quote: Nothing hints at the storm to come. We look at each other; we’re both thinking the same thing, Where is it?
Also Try: Bonfire by Kristen Ritter (Another novel by an actress. Different topic but quick, entertaining read nonetheless)
