The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

I adored The Kiss Quotient and the often untold story of a protagonist with autism. Helen Hoang does it again with The Bride Test – a fun, flirty and moving read – absolutely perfect for the summer or anytime you’re on a beach.

Esme is given the once in a lifetime opportunity to escape poverty and move to the United States. The catch? She has to make Khai fall in love with her. Leaving her mother, grandmother and young daughter behind, Esme takes off to California for the summer, in hopes of making Khai – a successful, good looking accountant – fall in love with her.

Esme is playing from behind – unaware that Khai is autistic; she attributes much of the difficulty between them to cultural differences and her inferior position. Their story was happy, sad, hopeful and, at moments, utterly frustrating. However I fell in love with both Esme and Khai and yearned for their relationship to have a happy ending.

I don’t want to give anything else away, but if you’re in the mood for a beach read with a little more depth – absolutely pick this one up ASAP!
