For fans of the TV Land show Younger, this traces the untold story of Pauline, who decides she needs a break from her family and heads to Thailand for a “Marriage Vacation”.
On paper, Kate Carmichael has a picture perfect life, with a gorgeous husband, two beautiful daughters and a townhouse in the Upper East Side. However, Kate is unhappy and unsatisfied. Marriage Vacation explores the challenges of stay-at-home momhood, more specifically, how easy it can be to lose yourself when your day-to-day focus is on others.
In this autobiography, Kate tells what inspired her “Marriage Vacation” and how she rediscovered her spark. The adventure takes her to exotic places and introduces her to new friends. Kate struggles with the guilt of running away from her family and responsibilities, but also believes the escape necessary to find herself again.
I love the show Younger (I am a lifelong fan of Sutton Foster and also love Hillary Duff), so this book was a no brainer. I thought it was a very clever concept, and explored an important and timely topic. It was light and enjoyable – definitely recommend for fans of Younger, especially if you want to hear the other side of the story!!!
PS – if you don’t watch Younger, you should!!!
