Give Me Your Hand by Megan Abbott

“You don’t have a self until you have a secret.”

Kit Owens never pictured amounting to much – she ran with the popular crowd, experimented like a normal teenager and did fine in school despite her teacher’s encouragement to push herself.  Then she met Diane.

Diane strolls into Kit’s life and suddenly everything changes.  Diane is beautiful, intelligent and poised, yet something always seems slightly off.  She inspires Kit to be more like her – smart and driven.  While Diane struggles with intimacy, Kit continues to get closer until she pushes too far and finds out Diane’s secret, which becomes something she will forever regret.

Fast forward over 20 years later, and Diane suddenly shows up in Kit’s life again.  Kit, like a moth to a flame, is drawn to Diane, but trouble soon follows.

I found myself totally engaged and engrossed in this story.  I wanted to know where it would go and how the drama would unfold.  If you’re into Gone Girl or loved Luckiest Girl Alive and enjoy psychological thrillers, this book is for you!
